One UN peacekeeper killed in fresh clashes in Bangui
One UN peacekeeper was killed and eight others injured in fresh clashes on Tuesday between the peacekeepers and fighters from the so-called Self Defence forces in the Central African Republic's capital, Bangui.
Tuesday's clash took place barely 48 hours after UN peacekeepers clashed with armed militias in Bangui's PK5 district during a raid.
It is the first time a UN peacekeeper has been killed in the Central African Republic since 2016.

We travel to one of the poorest countries in the world that has become the hub of a major geopolitical game between Russia and the West.
The Central African Republic is the testing ground for Russia's compelling ambition to take African countries into its sphere of influence and turn them against the West. In exchange for raw materials and diplomatic support in the UN Security Council, Russia supplies mercenaries to keep governments in power, education and disinformation with a Moscow perspective.
Journalist Bram Vermeulen meets Wagner's masked mercenaries and their best customer, the president of the Central African Republic. He hears about their gruesome methods of scorched earth, kidnappings and disappearances. He literally engages in a fight with Vladimir Putin's representative in the Central African Republic during a boxing training session with the Russian consul who dismisses all allegations of human rights violations as fake news.
The Russians are waging a disinformation campaign that is riding on a wave of distaste for former colonizer France, who is accused of disinterest in the fate of Africans and racism. This campaign is being carried out on numerous fronts: social media, university lectures and war films in which Russians are the heroes and Westerners the villains.
Journalists who try to combat the disinformation mysteriously die or are threatened.
On the front lines of Cold War 2.0, Bram Vermeulen sees that the West is losing the battle for Africa.

Central African Republic is a landlocked country located in the centre of Africa. The area that is now the Central African Republic has been settled for at least 8,000 years. The earliest inhabitants were the probable ancestors of today’s Aka or Pygmy peoples, who live in the western and southern forested regions of the country. The slave state of Dar al-Kuti occupied the northern reaches until the various regions of the Central African Republic were brought under French colonial rule late in the 19th century. Colonial administrators favored some ethnic groups over others, resulting in political rivalries that persisted after independence in 1960. Following periods of civil strife and dictatorial government, including the infamous regime of the self-styled Emperor Bokassa the first who renamed the country the Central African Empire, the country embarked on a course of democracy that was threatened, at the end of the 20th century, by interethnic civil war in neighbouring countries as well as by attempted coup d’étart. Weary of social chaos and shifting allegiances among contending elements of the power elite, the country’s citizens quote a regional proverb, "When elephants fight, the grass suffers; when elephants make love, the grass still suffers." The capital city of Bangui, founded as a French trading post in 1889, sprawls on the banks of the Ubangi River. Famed in colonial times as one of the most agreeable cities in equatorial Africa, Bangui blends wooded hills and grassy meadows with heavily populated shantytowns, a handsome if now somewhat run-down city centre, and modern residential districts. Though strikes and curfews often bring the city to a standstill, Bangui enjoys a vibrant nightlife and a diverse musical culture.

Anomaly: The Bermuda Triangle Of Space (2020)
200 kilometres above the Earth lurks a fascinating mystery. It stretches from southern Brazil to the west coast of Africa. And when the International Space Station crosses through it, odd things start to happen. Computers crash. Astronauts see lights flash before their eyes. Satellites spin out of control. Now, the area is growing and intensifying, with potentially disastrous effects not only for our efforts in space, but also for life on Earth.
